Microphone Position: Above Kick drum, in line with the tom
Distance: About 80 inches above ground
Additional Setup: Since this was a distance miking setup we recorded around 8 mikes at a time and had multiple passes.
Our Comments: For overheads, we preferred the sound of sE Electronics' Z5600. The sE 2200T was also great sounding as overheads and has more mids than the Z5600. Other notable mics in that position were the Audix SCX-25, the full sounding Audix CX212, and the sE Electronics Gemini 5 FET, which naturally rolled off the lows.
