- High-efficiency, low-distortion class "D" output stage
The SM8-S uses a low distorsion class "D" power stage, delivering 500W. Its very high efficiency guarantees cool operation even at full power.
- Remote Control Facilities
The SM8-S is intended to be remotely controlled when connected to a group of speakers, through a MIDI link. Within the group a "master" speaker will itself be controlled from one of various possible sources: PC/Mac dedicated "Focal manager" software, PDA, or proprietary remote control.

- The "W" cone
For more than 15 years the composite cone sandwich technology is a Focal exclusivity. The "W" process - which is used in the 13" drive unit of the SM8-S - provides a true optimisation of the frequency response by fine tuning of mass, rigidity and damping parameters.

These are the best speakers I have ever used in the studio. All my mixes are dead on, and I can't hear the crossovers, dist, etc. This is a must have for any serious engineer. You can adjust Output level, EQ, Polarity, Input mode (LFE / 2.1), Presets, Delays with the software.
